چکیده
Abstract The breakup of Gondwana resulted in sedimentary deposits recording lacustrine to marine environmental transitions the South Atlantic rift basins during Early Cretaceous. Currently, ambiguity pervades our understanding timing and orientation initial seawater incursion. Here we investigated hydrocarbon biomarkers sediments from two drill cores off West Africa with stratigraphic coverage Berriasian-Barremian Albian. Based on that can distinguish non-marine marine-influenced settings, influx occurred through southern entrance across Rio Grande Rise-Walvis Ridge early Aptian stage. Transitional conditions prevailed stage as incursion induced microbial community reorganization until Albian when fully prevailed. Overall, results this study are valuable deciphering final opening Ocean, fulfilling global comparison paleoenvironments, facilitating future petroleum exploration along conjugate margins.

Bioactivity potential of some marine algae from south of Iran
Algae are composed of a diverse group of various aquatic organisms. Secondary or primary metabolites from these organisms may be potential bioactive compounds of interest for use in the development of new pharmaceutical agents. In this research, four species of marine algae, Ulva lactuca, Padina pavonica, Colpomenia sinuosa and Cystoseira myrica, isolated from Persian Gulf coasts were evaluated...
متن کاملMicrobiostratigraphy of the Lower Cretaceous strata from South East of Maragheh, NW Iran
For the microbiostratigraphical studies, a stratigraphical section (named Dareh-Goshayesh) has been selected in southeast of Maragheh, Northwestern Iran. The thickness of successions in the selected stratigraphic section is measured about 223.6 m. The mentioned studied stratigraphic section is composed of two clastic and carbonate units. This succession unconformably overlies the Lar Formation ...
متن کاملGeohistory Analysis of the Tabas Block (Abdoughi-Parvadeh Basins) as Seen from the Late Triassic through Early Cretaceous Subsidence Curves
The study area is situated in the Middle part of the Tabas Block. It contains outcrops of rocks that formed along longitudinal faults in Early Cimmerian orogenic phase. The basin subsided along these faults from the Late Triassic to Early Cretaceous, which include two sedimentary cycles. A sedimentary cycle, related to Upper Triassic to Bajocian is known as Shemshak group. Another sedimentary c...
متن کاملDeep Sea Environments Across the Cretaceous/Paleogene boundary in the eastern South Atlantic Ocean
Sediments recovered at ODP Site 1262 on Walvis Ridge (eastern South Atlantic Ocean, paleodepth ∼2500–3000 m) offer an opportunity to look into the nature and cause(s) of the benthic foraminiferal turnover across the Cretaceous/Paleogene (K/Pg) boundary at abyssal depths at a location relatively remote from the location of the asteroid impact on the Yucatan peninsula. Late Maastrichtian assembla...
متن کاملA Diplodocid Sauropod Survivor from the Early Cretaceous of South America
Diplodocids are by far the most emblematic sauropod dinosaurs. They are part of Diplodocoidea, a vast clade whose other members are well-known from Jurassic and Cretaceous strata in Africa, Europe, North and South America. However, Diplodocids were never certainly recognized from the Cretaceous or in any other southern land mass besides Africa. Here we report a new sauropod, Leikupal laticauda ...
